Freight trucks are forecasted to use roughly 1.6 percent more barrels per day in 2031 compared to 2020 consumption. This is due to a projected rise in energy demand until 2025, after which consumption will dip. Freight truck energy use is projected to fall to 2.55 million barrels of oil per day by 2031.
