Danish Dynamite: the men’s national soccer team
Denmark’s squad is sometimes colloquially referred to as De Rød-Hvide , which translates as the Red and Whites in English. Looking at the most frequently played in venues of the Danish national team, the Københavns Idrætspark was still the most popular stadium for the lineup to feature in as of 2022. This venue was replaced by the Parken Stadium as the national team’s main ground in 1992. Notably, the Danish national team soccer matches with the largest number of spectators were all played outside of the country.
Scandinavian women’s national soccer teams
Based on rankings published by FIFA in December 2022, Sweden was the leading Scandinavian women’s national soccer team. The country was even ranked second worldwide in 2021, the highest position reached by the side since 2003. The Norwegian women’s national squad ranked worse in 2022 than it did in 2021, going one position behind from 12th to 13th. Denmark’s national women’s soccer team was ranked 18th according to the FIFA World Ranking published in 2022. The squad will be aiming to improve upon the form they had prior to 2009, which was the last time they were in the top ten teams worldwide.
