Retail sales of food in Guatemala amounted to close to 29 billion Guatemalan quetzales in 2019, with supermarkets accounting for nearly half of the total. In addition, discounters sales amounted to nine billion quetzales that year, equivalent to close to 30 percent of sales. Chained and independent forecourts, accounted together for three percent of the market.
