Across Europe, there were large discrepancies in the share of tonsillectomy surgeries carried out as ambulatory cases. In Iceland, 97.9 percent of tonsillectomies were carried out as ambulatory cases as of 2021, which was the highest share. In Germany, around 16 percent of tonsillectomies were ambulatory cases.
