The number of fixed telephone lines in Hong Kong in 2023 was **** per 100 households. The penetration rate of landlines was on a decreasing trend. Along with the increasing prevalence of mobile phone, the demand for fixed telephone line decreased.
Note: The indicator is calculated by dividing the number of fixed telephone lines (including residential exchange lines and residential subscribers of IP telephony services) based on administrative records from the Office of the Communications Authority by the total number of households in Hong Kong compiled by the Census and Statistics Department.
Figures include the number of exchange lines and subscribers of Internet protocol telephony services.
