The number of permits issued in Sweden for the construction of new residential buildings in 2024 was significantly lower than in the previous years. While 999 residential building permits were issued in the third quarter of 2024, that figure amounted to 2,993 permits in the second quarter of 2022.

Figures refer to the number of permits for whole buildings, not for dwellings. That means that a multi-family building would only be taken into account once.
