The annual number of air passengers in Turkey has been on an upward trajectory from 2009 to 2019, except for a slight decrease in 2016. However, the coronavirus epidemic led to a significant decrease in the number of air passengers in 2020, reaching 81.7 million. In the subsequent years, passenger traffic in the country experienced a rebound and surpassed 182 million travelers in 2022. The trend was expected to continue to increase for the next few years, and Turkey was estimated to host over 229 million passengers by the year 2025.
