In 2020, approximately a third of online shoppers in the United Kingdom, who abandoned their online shopping carts, came back to buy the item on the same website at a later date. Roughly a quarter of consumers abandoned their order to purchase the same item from a different online retailer. Overall, the UK's rate of cart abandonment had gone up by a few percentage points between 2019 and 2020.
