In 2022, Egypt's total primary energy production amounted to nearly 3.9 quadrillion British thermal units. This was slightly lower than the preceding year when Egypt produced four quadrillion Btu. Since 2005, energy production has increased in the country, reaching a peak in 2009 before declining until 2016. In 2017 it started on the increasing trend again.
