U.S. hospitals offering lactation consultants in 2024

In 2024, over 96 percent of hospitals in the United States offered breastfeeding/lactation consultants for maternity patients. Of these hospitals, 94 percent offered lactation consultants in the hospital, 63 percent in outpatient, while 17 percent provided breastfeeding support at home after discharge. Lactation consultants were the most common evidence-based maternity service hospitals provided.
