As of 2019, the value of payment transactions carried out in selected Latin American countries amounted to approximately 13.95 trillion U.S dollars. This represents the lowest value recorded in recent years and a decrease of nearly half (47 percent) in comparison to the 26.37 trillion dollars registered in the previous year. Further, nearly 84 percent of payment transactions value in the region resulted from credit transfers.
